The Wambold Girls' thoughts on "Fire Safety"

We have had every intention of implementing a plan for "Wambold Safety" that would consist of fire drills, earthquake drills, and such. I have wondered how to go about doing so in a way that the girls would understand. As some of you know, Ian and I find that it is pretty effective to parent with fear. Those of you who are fans of Arrested Development may remember the one armed man that George Sr. would have pop up every once in a while to scare his children straight ("...and that's why you always leave a note!") But I digress. So, the other day I was cooking up a pot of Pasta Roni (yes, it is more than just a side item) and I had forgotten about it until it boiled over. A small blaze started under the pot, so smoke quickly filled the house, and alarms started to sound. As I was wafting the smoke away from the smoke detectors, the girls' room door flings open and I see Madi and Evalyn on the ground starting to army crawl down the hall!! I was so proud, until I realized that they were wearing only panties! No question - they are my children, right? I think I may have to suggest grabbing a blanket on the way out, but only if you have time of course.
